Polk Releases 2000 U.S. Motorcycle Census Database

Product to Help OEMs, Dealers and Suppliers Assess Market Potential

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Feb. 27 Polk, the longest standing
curator of automobile records in the United States, announced that its 2000
Motorcycle National Vehicle Population Profile (Motorcycle NVPP(R)) will be
available beginning March 2001.

Motorcycle NVPP(R) is a census of every motorcycle and all-terrain vehicle
(ATV) registered in the United States. This registration information, which
can be sorted by make, geographic location, model, year and category (off-
highway or on-road), gives manufacturers, dealers, suppliers and aftermarket
outlets the ability to:

    * Determine Proper Inventory -- Using Motorcycle NVPP(R), customers can
better understand the volume and type of motorcycles operating in their area
and can stock their parts inventory appropriately.
    * Determine Site Areas -- Understanding the density of motorcycle
populations across the U.S. and Canada by using Motorcycle NVPP(R) can help
customers decide if and where they should open (or close) a dealership.
    * Measure Competitive Market Share -- With Motorcycle NVPP(R), customers
can conclude the market share statistics for competitive brands.
    * Assess Market Potential -- Using Motorcycle NVPP(R), customers can
quantify their sales figures and units locally, regionally or nationally.

"We are very excited to offer OEMs, suppliers and dealers a versatile
product that is unmatched in our industry," said Dan Chester, managing
director of Polk's aftermarket and original equipment supplier sales team.
"The quality of Polk products is unparalleled and the Motorcycle NVPP(R) is no
exception. This tool will help our customers better understand their market
and make educated business decisions in a timely fashion."

Polk's 2000 Motorcycle file is robust in its national coverage, which
shows there are more than 5.5 million motorcycles registered in the U.S.
Recent reviews by Polk show that California has roughly 12 percent of all U.S.
registered motorcycles.

Nearly 30 percent of all motorcycles in operation are located in four
states: California, New York, Texas and Illinois. Registrations in both
Louisiana and Texas have increased by more than 60 percent since 1997, which
are the highest volume increases in the country.

The parent product of the motorcycle database is the National Vehicle
Population Profile, NVPP(R), which is a census of all currently registered
passenger cars and light duty trucks in the United States and Canada.
In April 2001, an interactive CD-ROM version of the Motorcycle NVPP(R)
file will be available. This will complement the standard database version
released in March.
