GKN Sinter Metals Establishes Powder Metals
(P/M) University
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Feb. 27 While the Detroit Tigers are
training in warmer climes, their home ball park will be transformed into a
temporary information and technical center for automotive and industrial
engineers.
GKN Sinter Metals, a world leader in the powder metals (P/M) industry,
will take over the Tigers' Den at Comerica Park during the SAE World Congress
March 5-8, 2001, and invite engineers to come and learn more about P/M
technologies.
"We are creating the GKN Sinter Metals P/M University to educate large
segments of the engineering community that have little exposure to, or
experience with, such applications," said Don Spence, senior vice president,
sales and marketing.
A panel of experts from the company will offer eight classes covering P/M
technologies and applications, from forging and machining to metal injection
molding.
Courses will include:
Monday, March 5 Powder Forging (a.m.) and
Metal Injection Molding (p.m.)
Tuesday, March 6 Powder Metal Machinability (a.m.) and
Metal Hydraulic Applications (p.m.)
Wednesday, March 7 Powder Metal Joining Technologies (a.m.)
and Green Machining (p.m.)
Thursday, March 8 Aluminum Powder Metallurgy (a.m.)
and Multiple Material P/M Technologies (p.m.)
When the SAE Congress ends, class presentations will be available at GKN
Sinter Metals' website, at http://www.gknsintermetals.com . Additional information
about the program can be obtained by calling GKN's marketing communications
office at 248-647-0829.
