Wix Filtration Products Wins 'Spirit of NAPA' Award

GASTONIA, N.C., Feb. 26 Wix Filtration Products, a part of
Dana Corporation's Automotive Aftermarket Group and a leading
manufacturer and distributor of filtration products, has received the 2000
Spirit of NAPA Award for its NAPA-branded filtration products.
The Spirit of NAPA Award is the most prestigious supplier recognition
given by NAPA AUTO PARTS and is presented annually to the company's top-
performing supplier. The 2000 Spirit award is the fourth for Wix since the
award's creation in 1975.
"The Spirit of NAPA Award has become the most coveted award for a supplier
in our business," said NAPA President Steve Handschuh. "The competition is
intense and the qualifications are tough. That's why I take great pleasure
and pride in presenting the award to NAPA Filtration and Hydraulics. They have
an excellent sales team, products known for quality and reliability, and they
have earned the respect of the entire NAPA organization."
"The intense competition and strict criteria for winning this award make
the honor particularly meaningful for Dana," said Terry McCormack, president,
Dana Automotive Aftermarket Group. "Wix's achievement is a positive reflection
on the entire Automotive Aftermarket Group, and all of us at Dana are deeply
grateful for this recognition."
"I join the more than 2,800 Wix associates in thanking NAPA for this
extraordinary recognition," said Wix Filtration Products Vice President and
General Manager Keith Wilson. "Being associated with the NAPA team and NAPA-
branded products is a privilege in which all of us at Wix Filtration Products
take great pride."
NAPA selects its Spirit award winner by tallying single votes cast by each
of the 69 NAPA Distribution Centers. Each distribution center general manager
sends its vote with a letter of nomination to the company's management team.
The votes are reviewed at the company's headquarters and approved by its Board
of Directors.
Wix received three times the number of votes cast for the next most-
nominated supplier in 2000.
Spirit of NAPA Award nominees are judged on a strict list of 11 criteria,
including product line leadership; product quality; shipping performance;
sales, pricing and general service; local sales support; merchandising; and
educational and technical support. Qualified suppliers must show consistent
leadership in their overall approach to serving and supplying NAPA.
"The rigorous nomination and review process NAPA undertakes in selecting
its Spirit award recipient makes the award even more impressive and is a clear
gauge of the quality and dependability of Wix products and Wix people," Wilson
added.
The award was presented to Wix in a presentation at NAPA's headquarters in
Atlanta. Joining McCormack and Wilson were John Washbish, president, Underhood
Group, and Dave McColley, National Sales manager.
