Federal-Mogul Adjusts Salaried Workforce Levels to Reflect Business Conditions

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Feb. 26 Federal-Mogul Corporation
announced today it is reducing its global salaried workforce by
approximately 1,100 people reflective of market and business conditions.  In
addition, approximately 200 open positions have been eliminated and will not
be filled.  The company will be offering severance packages and outplacement
services where appropriate.

    "These are difficult decisions but we are operating in very tough market
conditions," said Frank Macher, chief executive officer.  "We are addressing
our cost base on several fronts to return this company to profitability and to
start the process of aligning our product lines strategically to better
support our customers."
    The company plans to share details of savings and severance charges when
first quarter results are announced on April 19, 2001.  Federal-Mogul has
approximately 12,750 salaried employees worldwide.
