DaimlerChrysler Spells Out Cuts, Geneva Show
Motors Along - A Special Report Today on
TheCarConnection.com
DETROIT, Feb. 26 It's a watershed Monday at
DaimlerChrysler, as members of the company's supervisory board are set to
break their silence and announce the details of a plan to right the struggling
DaimlerChrysler-Mitsubishi global empire.
The restructuring, to be announced in Stuttgart early this morning, is
said to include several changes in DaimlerChrysler's management structure --
changes which would concentrate more authority in the hands of chairman
Juergen Schrempp. Those changes and more news from Stuttgart will be
chronicled today on The Car Connection, http://www.thecarconnection.com , the
Web's automotive authority.
Elsewhere in this week's issue, TCC previews the Geneva Motor Show, which
holds its press days this week. And TCC takes another look at the showdown
coming in court over the CARB ZEV ruling. GM is taking the California Air
Resources Board to court, claiming that zero-emission vehicles are far too
costly for the clean-air benefits they produce. Who will win -- and will
Judge Judy have to step into the struggle?
In this week's reviews, TCC looks at the 2002 Buick Rendezvous and the
2001 Jaguar XK8. TCC also has the first reviews of the 2001 Roush Stage 3
Mustang, the first complete car made available from the famed aftermarket
tuner.
