Amica Offers Best Auto Insurance Premium to Safe Massachusetts Drivers for 3rd Year in a Row

    LINCOLN, R.I., Feb. 26 Amica Mutual Insurance Company
President and CEO Thomas A. Taylor today announced that the Massachusetts
Insurance Commissioner has approved Amica's proposal to offer auto insurance
policy discounts of 12 percent to the Commonwealth's safest drivers (those in
the "Step 9" category).  This is the third year in a row Amica has offered a
double-digit discount to Massachusetts "Step 9" drivers and once again goes
against an industry trend.
    Published reports indicate that most major insurance companies in
Massachusetts are offering "Step 9" discounts of 1-2 percent for 2001.
    "For the third consecutive year, we are offering the largest discount of
any insurance company to the safest drivers in Massachusetts as a reward to
those people who operate their vehicles lawfully and in a safe manner with
regard for all those on the road," said Mr. Taylor. "Our strategy is simple:
we want safe Massachusetts drivers to insure with Amica, and we are committed
to providing them with not only the best rates but unmatched customer service
as well."
