NASCAR WCUP: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Involved in Crash on First Lap at Dura Lube 400

Dale Earnhardt Jr., No. 8Budweiser Chevrolet Monte Carlo (sidelined due to 1st lap multi-car wreck): “I got piled up there getting into (turn) three, and somebody got into the back of me and I couldn’t keep it under control once that happened. The No. 4 car slid down in front of me, and everybody kind of backed off. And then we were sliding and suddenly we were going the wrong direction. I got into the wall a little too hard, I think it’s killed the car, but we’re doing all right. I just was really ready to get back to racing, but now I guess I’ll just have to get ready for Vegas. I want everybody back home to know we’re feeling okay.”

(Were you limping a littlewhen you got out of the car?) “No, the track was a little slick when I was getting out. The lap belt was a little too tight. So, I’m a little bruised-up. We’ll be okay.”
