Gordon Gibbs to Serve as Team 25 Crew Chief For Dura-Lube 400

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. -- Gordon Gibbs, chief mechanic for the No. 25 UAW-Delphi Chevrolet, will serve as the team's interim crew chief for this weekend's events at North Carolina Speedway. Hendrick Motorsports' Director of Racing Operations, Ken Howes, will also be at the track to assist the team in preparing for the race.

Last week, Team 25 crew chief Tony Furr was suspended by NASCAR for four events beginning with the Feb. 25 Dura-Lube 400. He will return to the circuit for the Food City 500 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway March 25. Fortunately, during the offseason, driver Jerry Nadeau and Team 25 tested at two of those four tracks, including North Carolina Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

"The test at Rockingham in January went really well," Nadeau explained. "We built two new cars for tracks like this and everything was great."

"We've got a good package for Rockingham," said Gibbs. "We may have to be a little flexible because it isn't as cold as when we tested here in January, but I think we will still be solid. You always have to improve every time you go to the track, though."

Nadeau is also the NASCAR Winston Cup Series' most recent winner at Atlanta Motor Speedway, which should take some pressure off of Gibbs.

"The most pressure we have is from ourselves -- and maybe Tony Furr, of course," he explained.
