FAMILY AND SPONSOR TRACK SESSION AT SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCED

SPECIAL "FAMILY & SPONSOR DAY" TRACK SESSION SET FOR MARCH 3 AT IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY

Irwindale, Calif. - - Irwindale Speedway has announced that a special "Family & Sponsor Day" track test session will be held on Saturday, March 3 from 10 am to 9 pm for the express purpose of welcoming racer's family members and sponsors out to the Speedway for free grandstand admission, a free hot dog and soft drink, and a good close look at what's in store competition-wise for the 2001 season!

"We're planning on opening up the main grandstands and on having a special kids play place in the Chalet Village area," said Irwindale Competition Director Chris Morgan. "When Bob DeFazio asked me how we could welcome our drivers back this year, I suggested that we invite them to invite their families and sponsors out to watch them get ready for the 2001 racing season. Bob said, 'Great. Let's do it!', and here we go."

All six of Irwindale's regular weekly racing divisions (Super Late Model, Late Model, Super Stock, Grand American Modified, Modified 4's, and Legend Cars) will be invited to participate on Saturday, March 3. All regular NASCAR racing pit rules will apply on the two "Open House" days and pit passes will be $25.00.

Family members and sponsors will be admitted to the grandstands and Chalet area free of charge and will each be offered a free hot dog and a soft drink for good measure. A blow-up "playland" for the younger family members is also planned. Sponsor packages and guided pit tours will be available on request.

The Speedway pit area will be open to ALL visitors from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm, at 11:30 am lunch will be served in the Chalet Village area of the facility. At 12:30 the main grandstands will be opened for all non-competitors to view the open practice sessions. At that point the regular Irwindale Speedway/NASCAR pit rules will come into force and all persons remaining in the Pit Area will be required to sign on the release and have a pit pass. The practice sessions (by division) will begin at 12:45 pm.

"This is our way of saying, 'Thank you for racing with us here at Irwindale', " said track VP DeFazio. "We're hoping that everyone who can will take advantage of this day. We'll be on hand all day Saturday to show prospective sponsors around, make them feel comfortable and answer any questions that they might have about this facility. We expect a good turnout for what promises to be a fun day on Saturday."

On Sunday March 4, the Speedway will hold an open practice session for ALL divisions and classes that compete at Irwindale. The pits will open at 10 am and the practice session will run until 7:00 pm. All normal NASCAR/Irwindale Speedway pit rules will apply for this event.
