Pennzoil-Quaker State Company Names Douglas S. Boyle President of Lubricants

    HOUSTON, Feb. 20 Pennzoil-Quaker State Company
announced today that Douglas S. Boyle has been appointed president of
lubricants.  He will report directly to James J. Postl, Pennzoil-Quaker State
Company president and chief executive officer.
    As president of lubricants, Boyle will have responsibility for profitably
growing the company's leading lubricants market share.  He also will be
responsible for improving efficiency, developing and executing brand
strategies and developing new products.  Pennzoil-Quaker State Company's
lubricants division includes the nation's number one selling Pennzoil(R) brand
motor oils and number two selling Quaker State(R) brand motor oils.
Lubricants represent approximately 44 percent of Pennzoil-Quaker State Company
revenues.
    "Doug comes to Pennzoil-Quaker State Company with the ideal background and
expertise in building and sustaining the growth of both new and
well-established brands," said Postl.  "His extensive domestic and
international experience includes a powerful mix of marketing, technology and
general management skills that will serve our flagship lubricants division
well."
    Prior to joining Pennzoil-Quaker State Company, Boyle spent nearly
19 years with PepsiCo.  Most recently he served as vice president of
non-carbonated products for Pepsi Cola North America.  During his five-year
career at Pepsi, he held senior positions in marketing, business development
and innovation and technology.  He was also vice president of cola marketing
with responsibility for strategy and marketplace initiatives for the Pepsi
Trademark, which represented more than 60 percent of the company volume and
$12 billion in annual sales.  Prior to Pepsi, Boyle held senior general and
marketing management positions with Frito Lay International and Frito Lay U.S.
He holds a Masters of Management degree from the Kellogg School of Management
and Bachelor of Art degree from Bates College.
