Gas Prices Creep Up a Penny From a Month Ago
HOUSTON--Feb. 16, 2001--Gas Prices in the Lone Star State rose a penny in February, according to the Fuel Gauge Report from AAA Texas. The statewide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $1.39 -- 10 cents more than this time last year.
AAA's Fuel Gauge Report shows nationally the average price for unleaded fuel is $1.49 a gallon, holding steady from a month ago -- but 12 cents higher per gallon than last year.
February is typically the month with the lowest gas demand, so prices traditionally drop at this time of year. But oil industry analysts say that skyrocketing natural gas prices have had an impact on fuel costs because some natural gas components are used in fuel additives.
