Spicer Driveshaft and Spicer Heavy Axle and Brake Group have been selected by
International Truck and Engine Corporation to supply Spicer(R) Life(TM)
driveshafts, Spicer steering shafts, Spicer steer axles, and Spicer drive
axles as standard equipment on the new International 4000 Series medium-duty
truck, which is being unveiled today in Las Vegas, Nevada.
International's 4000 Series line will incorporate Spicer Life 70, 100, and
140 series assemblies. The vehicles will also include Spicer I-series steer
axles, 15,000-to-26,000-pound single drive axles, and 40,000-pound tandem
drive axles into this new series of medium-duty vehicles.
"Dana is very pleased to be a part of these exciting new vehicles, and we
are proud of our long-time relationship with International. We look forward to
this new business opportunity and to further developing our partnership with
this premier vehicle manufacturer," said Norm Boisvert, general manager and
vice president, Spicer Heavy Axle and Brake Division North America.
"Spicer's medium-duty driveshafts benefit from proven technology developed
in the light vehicular market," said Joe Sober, vice-president and general
manager for Spicer Driveshaft. "Innovations such as Spicer Life XS(TM)
permanently lubricated, maintenance-free universal joints and sealed slip
members feature state of the art technology that reduce maintenance
requirements and translate into a higher caliber vehicle for resale. Spicer is
pleased that International recognized the value that these new products will
bring to its clientele."
Spicer driveshafts, drive axles, and steer axles are being manufactured at
Dana's Hilliard, Ohio, facility. Steering shafts will be made at the Lima,
Ohio, plant. Both locations provide convenient access to International's
Springfield, Ohio, facility, where initial production is planned.
International's 4000 series features a complete Roadranger(R) drivetrain
system -- an unbeatable combination of the best products from Dana and Eaton
Corporation, partnering to provide the most advanced, most trouble-free
drivetrain components and systems in the industry. And it's backed by the
Roadrangers -- the most experienced, most expert, and most accessible
drivetrain consultants in the business. Eaton(R) Fuller(R) medium-duty
transmissions and clutches are also standard on this series of vehicles.
