William M. Guzik Will Become Midas' Chief Financial Officer

ITASCA, Ill.--Feb. 15, 2001--Midas, Inc., has announced that William M. Guzik will become senior vice president and chief financial officer on May 1, upon the retirement of R. Lee Barclay, executive vice president and current chief financial officer.
Guzik, 41, joined Midas in 1999, as vice president and controller.
"Bill Guzik's background in public accounting and as the senior financial officer of two retail companies will enable him to continue the high level of expertise and professionalism in the chief financial officer's post as that of Lee Barclay," said Wendel H. Province, Midas' chairman and chief executive officer.
Prior to joining Midas, Guzik was chief financial officer of Delray Farms LLC, Chicago-based "fresh market" retail grocery stores, from 1995 until 1999. He previously was chief financial officer and secretary of JG Industries, Inc., parent of Chicago's Goldblatt's Department Stores, and spent 11 years in the audit practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago.
Guzik holds a bachelor of science degree in accountancy from DePaul University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the Illinois CPA Society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Barclay, 58, joined Midas in 1980, as vice president and controller. He has been chief financial officer of the company since 1982, and executive vice president since 1989.
"For more than 20 years, Lee Barclay has made significant contributions to the success of Midas," Province said. "His knowledge of finance and his integrity have been extremely valuable to the company and to the network of Midas franchisees, particularly since Midas became an independent, public company in early 1998."

Midas is one of the world's largest providers of automotive service, offering exhaust, brake, steering and suspension services, as well as batteries, climate control and maintenance services at 2,700 franchised and licensed Midas shops in 19 countries, including more than 2,000 in the United States and Canada.
