FAIRFIELD, N.J.--Key Motorsport has announced that
Marc-Antoine Camirand will compete in selected rounds of the U.S. F2000
National Championship Presented by Speedvision.
Camirand has been feverishly working on putting together the necessary funding to compete in this season's CART Toyota Atlantic Championship. In an effort to maintain a high profile, Camirand will be competing in some selected U.S. F2000 races with Key Motorsport, including the season-opener.
Camirand, is first in top-10 and top-five finishes, third in top-three finishes and poles, and fourth in wins in U.S. F2000 history. Last year, he finished third in the championship, capturing three wins.
“Now that the U.S. F2000 series is aligned with Grand-Am, Marc will have a greater opportunity to meet other team owners and decision makers,” said Steve Djelebian, Key Motorsport team owner. “The hope is that this will assist him in advancing his racing career. He is also a great asset to our team, as he will be sharing some of his experience with his talented teammate, Billy Asaro. We are hoping for good results from both drivers at Homestead."
The 2001 U.S. National Championship gets under way March 3, 2001 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in support of the Grand-Am Nextel 250.
