ENGLEWOOD, Colo.-Chairman Carl A. Haas has announced his
resignation from the SCCA Pro Racing Board of Directors.
As Chairman of SCCA, Inc. in 1993, Haas was the guiding force in creating the wholly owned Pro Racing subsidiary of SCCA, Inc.
"I have seen SCCA Pro Racing through some tough times, and now back to prosperity," said Haas. "I've enjoyed the 12 years I served as an SCCA Inc. Director, the five years I served as its Chairman and my seven years as the Pro Racing Chairman."
Haas was the recipient of the Woolf Barnato Award in 1985-the highest honor an SCCA member can receive for outstanding long-term contributions. The Award was renamed the Carl Haas Cup in 1994, and remains an annual presentation.
"We have been extremely fortunate to have had Carl's leadership for such a long time," said K. P. Jones, SCCA, Inc. Chairman. "It will indeed be difficult to fill the void left by his departure. Members from the SCCA Inc. Board will join the remaining Pro Racing Board members. The newly constituted board will then meet to select its new Chairperson. Because our staff in Denver handles the day-to-day activities of our Pro Racing division, we do not anticipate any immediate changes in the way we do business.
"I know I speak for the entire Board of SCCA, Inc., in thanking Carl for his many years of unselfish devotion to our organization."
The SCCA Pro Racing Board of Directors is comprised of: Tom Campbell, K.P. Jones, John Martinsen, Dr. Don Panoz, Ken Patterson, Roger Werner and Peter J. Yanowitch.
