KING TACO SPONSORS LEGEND CAR $10,000 SUPER SERIES

$10,000 "KING TACO LEGEND CAR SUPER SERIES" RESTAURANT CHAIN ANNOUNCES 12-RACE CHALLENGE AT IS

Irwindale, Calif. - - Those super-competitive, red hot, crowd-pleasing Legend Cars are back and better than ever at Irwindale Speedway for the 2001 season! Included this year as one of Irwindale's regular weekly championship divisions, the Legends will now not only be running for a coveted Irwindale Speedway champion's ring but for a slice of a $10,000 points fund. The points fund will be backed by the King Taco chain of great area local restaurants.

Named the "King Taco Legend Car Super Series," the 12 races will take place over the 2001 season at Irwindale with participants accruing points toward the "gold" at the end of the racing season's rainbow. Race dates are: March 31, April 14, April 28, May 26, June 16, June 30, July 14, July 28, August 11, August 25, September 8, and September 29. All race dates are Saturday night events.

"Everyone associated with the Speedway is excited about King Taco's participation in the Legend Cars Division," said track Chief Operating Officer Bob DeFazio. "They're a great family restaurant chain, and Legend Cars offer great family racing fun … What better combination deal could you ask for."

Legend Cars are colorful "spec-type" racers that offer an equal footing for every driver. These 1200cc motorcycle engine-powered racing machines all feature identical tubular steel frames, motors, brakes, suspension, fuel cells, and tires. Driver set-up skill and talent behind the wheel is the most important variable in successfully racing a Legend. Unlike some other types of race cars, pocket depth or checkbook size are not as critical as the prime ingredients of a winning performance or successful racing season.

Last season an average Legend Cars race night at Irwindale saw 24 to 30 of the minuscule missiles hurling themselves around the flat, fast 1/3-mile inner oval at Irwindale, this year expectations are for even stronger fields and fiercer competition.

"We're very proud to be associated with Irwindale Speedway and the Legend Cars racing series," said Luis Martinez, King Taco's Vice President of Operations. "This is our first experience lending our name to a racing series championship like this. We know that our restaurant patrons love color and flavor and we think that the Legend Cars Super Series at Irwindale is a perfect match for us. By the way, we hope to see all the fans at their favorite King Taco restaurant right after the races!"

Tickets for all of the 2001 season races are now on sale at Irwindale Speedway. Fans are urged to call (626) 358-1100 during regular business hours from Monday to Friday to get a jump on the season.
