Exclusive: Reliant Three-Wheeler - Last One Rolls Off Line Today! just-auto.com Reports

    LONDON, Feb. 14 http://www.just-auto.com -- After 65 years
of production, the last Reliant three-wheeler will leave the Reliant Cars
assembly line at the company's Burntwood, Staffordshire factory, this
afternoon.

says that the final car, which has been purchased by the Sun newspaper for a
competition prize, will be finished in a special gold metallic paint and its
specification will include two-tone leather upholstery, walnut-finish
dashboard with white-faced instruments, alloy wheels, RDS stereo system,
driving lights, a stainless steel exhaust system and numerous other "extras."
    Although the exact number of Reliant three-wheelers is unknown, it is
estimated that since 1935 around 300,000 of the cars have been made.
    Noel Palmer, spokesman for Reliant Cars says, "Over 44,000 of those cars
are still on the road today."  The small cars, which can be driven on a
motorcycle license, have a large following of enthusiasts that love the car's
character.
    These very maneuverable cars with rust-proof fibreglass bodies, and
simple, durable and reliable overhead valve four-cylinder engines, will be
greatly missed.
