The Chemical Industry at a Crossroad; Globalization, Mergers and e-Business Change the Landscape

    NEW YORK, Feb. 13 Transportation, Distribution & Logistics
in the Chemical Industry, the latest conference organized by Strategic
Research Institute, will be held in New Orleans, Chateau Sonesta Hotel, on
April 23-24, 2001.
    Speakers' faculty will include representatives of major distributors,
chemical and transportation companies and industry associations. Carefully
selected key topics include insights into Responsible Distribution Process
(RDP), globalization, risk assessment in transportation and storage,
transformation of rail industry in the US (and its impact on chemical
shippers), using e-business in reducing T&D expenses, e-logistics, etc.
    Some of the keynote speakers will be: James Kolstad, President of the
National Association of Chemical Distributors, Mark Kramer, Senior Vice
President of Vopak and Sue Collins, Chairperson of the Canadian Institute of
Traffic and Transportation (CITT).
    Chairman of this conference will be Dr. Jezdimir Knezevic, professor of
Exeter University.
    A special presentation on logistics network optimization will be given by
Dr. Jeremy Shapiro, MIT professor and author of the book: "Modeling the Supply
Chain".
