McCarney Technologies Inc. Receives Coveted Frost & Sullivan Strategic Alliance Innovation Award

SAN JOSE, Calif.--Feb. 13, 2001--Frost & Sullivan announces McCarney Technologies Inc. has received the 2000 Strategic Alliance Innovation Award for its development of non-exclusive alliances with Mack Trucks and Diagnostic Hotline in marketing their automatic vehicle location (AVL) and remote diagnostic product for long-haul trucks, TruckLink.
The Frost & Sullivan Strategic Alliance Innovation Award is given to companies demonstrating exceptional planning or leadership in forming strategic alliances within their industries. Award recipients must meet specific criteria such as changing market approach or increase in market share and/or customer base.
TruckLink is an automated wireless AVL and continuous performance monitoring system that performs "real time" monitoring of vehicle operating parameters. TruckLink provides data on a breach of a vehicle's acceptable parameters in any monitored engine area so a remote data center, or repair facility, is automatically informed and can monitor a multitude of operating parameters in real-time while the vehicle is in motion. In the event of an electrical circuit failure, the unit operates off of a backup battery. Satellites can locate a vehicle anywhere in North America down to the block and the cross streets.
TruckLink's add-on theft detection system mounts on the truck out of sight. If someone other than the authorized driver attempts to move the vehicle, it automatically alerts fleet dispatch.
TruckLink is available through all Mack sales, parts and service locations. Mack also operates the OneCall center that provides remote support for Mack truck drivers. Diagnostic Hotline is equipped with McCarney Technologies' SnapShot HD software and offers technical support when TruckLink spots a pending fault. This symbiotic alliance allows McCarney Technologies Inc. and Diagnostic Hotline to provide advanced remote diagnostic services as a TruckLink feature.
According to new strategic market information, "North American Automatic Vehicle Location Hardware and Service Markets," Frost & Sullivan predicts industry revenues will surpass $3 billion in 2007 largely due to growing reliance on just-in-time delivery.
"By forming alliances with Mack Trucks and Diagnostic Hotline, McCarney Technologies has created a strong position for itself in this market, and can be expected to contribute to the market's anticipated growth," said Joerg Dittmer, Frost & Sullivan lead analyst on this research project.
"After having received local recognition by the BC Advanced Systems Institute, the Science Council of BC, and the National Research Council, who all have provided valuable support for our R&D efforts in the past, we are now pleased to receive international recognition from Frost & Sullivan for our innovative approach to serve the industry with advanced products and services," says Stefan Joseph, COO of McCarney Technologies Inc. "The real beneficiaries of our technology and our symbiotic relationship with Diagnostic Hotline are our customers. Credits for our accomplishment go to our excellent staff at all ranks and levels, and in particular to James McCarney, our visionary leader who had the foresight, skills and perseverance to make it all possible."
