CAD Potential Announces Contribution to PACE
Partnership And Michigan State University
DENVER, Feb. 13 CAD Potential, Inc. announces its
contribution to the Partners for the Advancement of CAD/CAM/CAE Education
(PACE) and Michigan State University. General Motors recently provided to
Michigan State University and other PACE Institutions, course material based
upon CAD Potential's new eLearning program i.get.it. This courseware is being
integrated into the engineering design curriculum at Michigan State
University -- the first deployed PACE Institution.
PACE, a program committed to integrating 3-D solid modeling into the
curricula of strategically selected academic institutions worldwide, provides
educational contributions of Sun workstations, Unigraphics CAD/CAM/CAE
software, training, and courseware to these "PACE Institutions." PACE helps
future engineers develop computer-aided engineering skills on industry-leading
technology. And CAD Potential's material adds a greater dimension to the
learning materials now available to these institutions.
Since its inception 16 months ago, PACE's industrial partners -- General
Motors, Unigraphics Solutions, Sun Microsystems, and Electronic Data Systems
(EDS) -- have provided an educational contribution valued at over $200 million
to enhance engineering education at academic institutions in the U.S., Mexico,
and Canada. The academic institutions, as a result, raise the bar on
engineering education in many ways. One is to create textbooks and other
courseware that provide better learning tools for students. Michigan State
University's Bob Chalou recently completed a textbook that incorporated
training material from CAD Potential, as well as from the General Motors
Knowledge Center, to improve the textbook choices for educators.
"We have based a good deal of the content of our 3-D Solid Modeling and
Assemblies course on courseware created by CAD Potential provided through
General Motors," says Bob Chalou, professor of Material Science and Mechanics
at Michigan State University. "CAD Potential's material is an excellent
educational resource because of its intuitive application of Unigraphics
software. The class will provide students critical skills, including 3-D
solid modeling, basic assembly of components, and collaborative team design."
"We are excited about this contribution of educational material to
Michigan State -- a contribution that derives from our relationship with
General Motors," says David Fedler, vice president of CAD Potential, Inc. "To
deliver training curriculum based on real-world manufacturing standards
enables these engineering students to be at the leading edge of technology."
"When industry and academia join hands, students benefit," stated Elaine
Chapman-Moore, manager of PACE Partnerships at General Motors. "CAD Potential
has continued to work with General Motors to provide our academic partners
with course material that can be customized and repackaged as needed."
