Chuck Etchells' Comments On Dave Schultz
CHUCK ETCHELLS OFFERS HIS THOUGHTS ON THE PASSING OF DAVE SCHULTZ
Putnam, Conn., February 12, 2001 - Chuck Etchells, owner and driver of the Kendall Oil/Matco Tools Camaro Z28 Funny Car, today released the following statement on the untimely death of former NHRA Pro Stock Bike champion (and fellow Team Kendall member) Dave Schultz, who passed away on Sunday after battling colon cancer.
"Everyone at Chuck Etchells Racing is shocked and saddened by the terrible news of Dave Schultz's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Meredith, Brian, Kim and the entire Schultz family. Obviously, Dave was one of the greatest racers in NHRA history, a tremendous competitor. But he was an even greater human being than he was a racer. He was a great guy, who really cared about people, and often put others' situations before his own.
"The only saving grace is that he did not suffer as long as he could have, and we all know he's moved to a better place. God bless you, Dave Schultz."
