Heafner's President and CEO Dick Johnson Announces Restructuring of Organizational Responsibilities
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Feb. 12, 2001--Mr. Dick Johnson, President and CEO of Heafner Tire Group, Inc., announced restructuring of organizational responsibilities for the corporation. All of the following changes are effective immediately.William (Bill) E. Berry, currently Senior Vice President - Finance for the Company's Southeast Division, is promoted to Executive Vice President - Finance and Administration for the corporation. He will be responsible for all internal financial reporting as well as Information Systems. Mr. Berry will continue to report to Dick Johnson.
Daniel (Dan) K. Brown, currently Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing is being temporarily re-assigned as the interim President of Winston Tire Company in Burbank, CA. At the completion of this assignment, Mr. Brown will become the Senior Vice President - Procurement. In both assignments, he will report to Dick Johnson.
J. Michael (Mike) Gaither, currently Executive Vice President and General Counsel will remain Executive Vice President but will assume responsibility for the Treasury and external financial reporting functions and will continue his role as General Counsel. Mr. Gaither will report to Dick Johnson.
Phillip (Phil) E. Marrett, currently Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Company's Southeast Division, is promoted to Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the corporation. Mr. Marrett will continue to report to Dick Johnson.
J. David (Dave) Phillips, currently Vice President - Human Resources, is promoted to Senior Vice President - Human Resources/Safety and Training. In this position, Mr. Phillips will report to Dick Johnson.

Jim Matthews, President, Heafner Tire Group - Northern Division (formerly known as American Tire Distributors, "ATD") located in Manassas, VA.
Randy Haas, President, Heafner Tire Group - Central Division (formerly known as T.O. Haas Tire Company) located in Lincoln, NE.
Ray Barney, President, Heafner Tire Group - Western Division (formerly known as Speed Merchants/Competition Parts Warehouse) located in San Jose, CA.
