Homestead, FL - Continuing preparations for the 2001 CART FedEx season, the Zakspeed/Forsythe Racing Team logged approximately 364 miles during its two-day test on the 1.502-mile Homestead oval Thursday and Friday.

Bryan Herta, driver of the #77 Zakspeed/Forsythe/Ford-Reynard, was pleased with the progress he and his crew accomplished Thursday, but struggled a bit on day two. "I ended up going a little bit faster than I did on the first day, but we were ran into some limitations with the tire restrictions, and were never really able to achieve everything from the car that we know is there." Herta continued, "but overall, it was another successful test, because we came with a list of changes to try, and we were able to learn from those changes. We could have used a little more track time on Friday, but we definitely made progress."

Team manager Steve Dickson is pleased with the crews progress; "The team has done a real good job. We didn’t achieve all that we wanted to today, but the limiting factor was tires. Other than that, we came here with a big list, and we accomplished a lot of work. For the most part, we have been able to maximize the track time, and Bryan gives 100% every time he’s in the car."

Pre-season testing continues next week for Herta, as he returns to Laguna Seca, the site of his back-to-back Champ Car victories in 1998 and ‘99.
