MotorWeek Honors Chrysler Group with Six
Drivers' Choice Awards
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Feb. 8 After evaluating more than 150
vehicles, MotorWeek, television's premier automotive magazine, announced its
selection of the best cars and trucks for the 2001 model year. The Chrysler
Group won Drivers' Choice Awards in three of the 12 categories with six of its
vehicles.
The 2001 Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus won Best Family Sedan. The
all-new 2001 Dodge Caravan, Chrysler Voyager and Chrysler Town & Country were
selected as Best Minivan while the 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser won Best Cross-
Over Vehicle.
"Never before in the 19-year history of MotorWeek's Drivers' Choice Awards
has one company swept so many widely diverse categories," said John Davis,
MotorWeek's host and executive producer. "For the 2001 model year, the
Chrysler Group introduced the most talked about vehicle of our time, the
Chrysler PT Cruiser, reaffirmed its benchmark position with a trio of advanced
minivans, all while disproving the myth that a Detroit based car-company has
forgotten how to design a family sedan that is enjoyable to see and drive. It
is an impressive achievement and all of the employees of the Chrysler Group
should be congratulated."
Category winners were chosen by a team of 17 judges, comprised of
journalists, staff and crew of MotorWeek. Decisions were based on superior
performance, technology, practicality and dollar value.
