Subaru Announces Pricing on 2002 Impreza WRX Sedan And WRX Sport Wagon

         - New Models Emphasize Performance, Safety And Refinement -

CHICAGO, Feb. 8 Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) a pioneer of
crossover sport utility vehicles designed for the active lifestyle, announced
today the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of the 2002 model year
Subaru Impreza lineup. The 2002 Impreza lineup includes WRX Sedan and Sport
Wagon, 2.5 RS Sedan, 2.5 TS Sport Wagon and Outback Sport. Part of the Subaru
Driving Performance strategy, the 2002 Impreza lineup is completely redesigned
for enhanced performance, safety, refinement and expanded standard equipment.
The big news for the 2002 Impreza line is power. Featuring a 227
horsepower turbocharged and intercooled engine, the All-Wheel Drive Impreza
WRX Sedan and Sport Wagon offer more torque and a significantly better power-
to-weight ratio than competitors including the Audi 1.8T or BMW 325xi. The
2002 Impreza 2.5 RS Sedan, 2.5 TS Sport Wagon and Outback Sport are all
motivated by the proven 2.5-liter SOHC boxer engine delivering 165 horsepower
and 166 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine delivers 16 percent more horsepower
and 11 percent more torque than the 2.2 liter engine found in 2001MY Impreza L
and Outback Sport models.
As with every Subaru model sold in North America since 1997, all 2002
Impreza models feature full-time All-Wheel Drive for optimal performance and
grip on all types of road surfaces, dry or wet. Consistent with the Subaru
philosophy of Active Driving, Active Safety, all models feature an innovative
Ring-Shaped Reinforcement body structure for improved collision protection, 4-
channel, 4-sensor Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) and standard Daytime Running Lights.
Impreza 2.5 RS Sedan, 2.5 TS Sport Wagon and Outback Sport models are
available with either a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional
four-speed electronic automatic transmission (4EAT).

Impreza WRX Sedan and WRX Sport Wagon
The 2002 Impreza WRX Sedan and WRX Sport Wagon models come equipped with a
full roster of standard comfort and convenience features including: air
conditioning, a 6-speaker AM/FM 80-Watt stereo with logic control cassette
player and in-dash 6-disc CD changer, cruise control, power door locks and
power windows with driver's auto down. Inspired by the World Rally
Championship car, WRX models raise the sporty quotient with interior
appointments that include body-hugging sport design front seats, a Momo brand
four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and aluminum-alloy pedal covers on
manual transmission models. Rounding out the list of standard features are
16" aluminum-alloy wheels, 11.4" front brake rotors with twin piston calipers,
a keyless entry system, front foglights, a dual outlet sport tailpipe and an
aluminum-alloy hood. Additionally, all 2002 WRX models include three-point
seat belts for all five seating positions, as well as dual front airbags and
front seat side-impact airbags.

    Impreza 2.5 RS Sedan
Subaru offers a completely redesigned Impreza 2.5 RS sedan for 2002.

alloy wheels, sport design seats, AM/FM stereo cassette with single-disc CD

specific Outback Sport black grille design, standard large diameter fog
lights, two-tone paint, a rear bumper step pad and roof rails with crossbars.
