Optimal Energy Systems Names Williams to Board of Directors

    TORRANCE, Calif.--Feb. 8, 2001--R. Gordon Williams, a former vice president of the Space & Electronics Group at TRW Inc., has been named to the board of directors of Optimal Energy Systems Inc.
    Optimal Energy Systems is a Nevada corporation specializing in the development and manufacture of electrical machines and flywheel power units for power conversion and high quality energy storage.
    Williams, who retired from TRW after 30 years of service, was vice president and deputy general manager of TRW's Space & Electronics Group from 1993 through 1995. After his retirement, he was asked by TRW to be director of an automotive start-up business in electric steering. He held this position for one year and successfully initiated the design and production of the Electric Steering Product Line.
    Previously, he was vice president and general manager of the Federal Systems Division that managed TRW's major space systems and projects for NASA as well as other civilian space organizations and commercial customers.
    Optimal Energy's offices and laboratory facilities are located in Torrance, Calif.
