Ford Ranger North American Championships Postponed Until March 29th - April 1st

    SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif., Feb. 7 The third leg of the Vans
Triple Crown of Snowboarding, which was scheduled to hit Sierra at Tahoe on
March 2-6 for the Ford Ranger North American Championships, has been postponed
due to lack of snowfall in the Lake Tahoe region of California's Sierra Nevada
Mountains.  The event has been moved to March 29 - April 1, 2001, when an
all-star field of riders will compete in Superpipe, Snowboard Cross and Big
Air for a total purse of $125,000.
    This will be the final stop of the Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding,
which is shaping up to be one of the most exciting Series in history.  The
first stop of the Series, the 2000 Mountain Dew Pro Nationals, in Breckenridge
saw 14 year-old phenom, Shaun White from San Diego, Calif., put on a
high-flying demonstration in the Superpipe competition.  White finished second
in the competition, only to be edged out by perennial Superpipe finalist, Todd
Richards.  Xavier DeLeRue and Ine Poetzl cruised to victories in the Snowboard
Cross competition, while Josh Dirksen and Leah Wagner rose to the occasion in
the Big Air competition and will look forward to defending their titles in the
upcoming events.  The Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding will head to Snow
Summit, CA for its second leg at the 2001 Vans Championships on February
14-18.
    The Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding is one of the seven Vans Triple
Crown Series in as many sports.  Points are tabulated from the top three
Snowboarding events of the season, including the competitions at Breckenridge,
CO, Snow Summit, CA and Sierra at Tahoe, CA and the winner is crowned at the
final event.  Participants earn points from their highest scoring discipline
at each of the three events.  The winner in the men's division will receive a
2001 Ford Ranger and the winner of the women's division will receive a trip
for two to the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing in Hawaii.  The 1999 Vans Triple
Crown of Snowboarding Champions Ross Powers and Ine Poetzl will be gearing up
to defend their titles against a stacked field of competitors in the 2001
season.
