Visteon Sponsors University of Michigan Health System Research Program

DEARBORN, Mich., Feb. 6 Visteon Corporation
announced today that it is the first company in the automotive industry to
help fund the University of Michigan Health System's medical research program,
UMPIRE (University of Michigan Program for Injury Research and Education).
Visteon chose to support this organization because UMPIRE shares Visteon's
philosophy of developing automotive products and technologies that are
designed to improve the safety and security of consumers.

"This unique program will take the industry in an all-new direction for
accident research, data analysis, design and performance validation," said
John Barkley, Director of Cross-Systems Development for Visteon Corporation.
Under the direction of Dr. Stewart Wang, UMPIRE is a unique program that
will enable the automotive industry to learn from the medical community, which
will result in a better understanding of the effects of occupant impact in
vehicle crashes. Visteon plans to use data from the program to design and
develop enhanced future automotive products and technologies. Conversely, the
medical community will gain greater insight that will aid in improved trauma
patient care.
As one of the world's largest suppliers of integrated automotive
components and systems, Visteon's product and technology roadmap begins with
safety. The company has designed and developed several products and systems
that will help keep drivers safe and secure as they travel from destination-
to-destination. These products and technologies include: Visteon Voice
Technology(TM), which helps reduce driver distraction; NavMate(R) Navigation
System, which helps drivers arrive at their destination safely and easily;
radar detection systems that provide warning of nearby objects; and collision
avoidance systems, to name a few. The next phase for improving these and many
other Visteon products and technologies will include the valuable medical
insight provided by data analysis from the UMPIRE program.
