Jaguar North America Announces 2002 S-TYPE Sport at 2001 Chicago Show

CHICAGO, Feb. 6 Jaguar North America is introducing the
2002 S-TYPE Sport at the Chicago Auto Show -- a sportier version of the
current S-TYPE for the true driving enthusiast. The S-TYPE Sport will be
available in the United States, Canada and Mexico -- in the fall of 2001.

"In 2000, Jaguar reached record sales in North America selling 24,507
S-TYPEs," said Mike O'Driscoll, President of Jaguar North America. "The
S-TYPE Sport will build on this success by offering a derivative with more
emphasis on a sportier appearance and dynamic performance."

The S-TYPE Sport will subtly restyle the car's interior and exterior,
staying in line with Jaguar's tradition of delivering high levels of
craftsmanship, sportiness and luxury. The car reflects the taste of a younger
generation who are looking for a sporty premium mid-size sedan.

The S-TYPE Sport is instantly recognizable by its body color trim,
including a color keyed grill surround, bumper blades and trunk plinth that
will complement the following S-TYPE colors -- Anthracite (black), Carnival
(red) and Platinum (silver). The body color trim will replace the chrome
components on the standard S-TYPE. Also a part of sport package, are 17-inch
sport alloy wheels and Pirelli P 235/50ZR17 tires. These subtle but effective
changes give a whole new slant on the S-TYPE's appearance, with the
"Anthracite" model offering a certain 'stealth-like' appearance.

Interior features on the S-TYPE Sport include darker tones and perforated
Connolly leather sports seats, emphasizing its sporting spirit and
contemporary feel. The interior sports a gray stained bird's eye maple wood
trim, a leather sport steering wheel, perforated Connolly leather seats, warm
charcoal colored upper fascia molding and warm charcoal carpets and floor
mats.

The S-TYPE's Sport also delivers Jaguar's unique adaptive damping system
-- the Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) system -- currently
available on the XK and XJ series. CATS optimizes ride and handling by using
two-stage adaptive dampers under electronic control to increase roll stiffness
and ride refinement. The CATS dampers have two sets of characteristics that
are controlled by an Electronic Control Unit (ECU). CATS includes two
vertical accelerometers, an under-hood lateral accelerometer and a brake
switch that enable the ECU to adjust the damper settings to suit the driving
conditions in micro-seconds, thereby optimizing ride and handling. The result
is a unique combination of agile handling, outstanding ride comfort and driver
control ... for every driving enthusiast.
