"This increase is being driven by escalating production costs in the form
of labor, supplies, healthcare and other benefit costs, and the need to
provide for continued capital investments for technology and overall growth,"
said Richard H. Brown, vice president - sales and marketing, Timken Latrobe
Steel.
This price increase does not include the rising costs of natural gas,
which will continue to be included in monthly raw material surcharges. The
natural gas portion of the surcharge is based on the difference of the monthly
average reported by the New York Mercantile Exchange versus a base of $2.25
per thousand cubic feet of natural gas.
