NASCAR WCUP: Ken Schrader anxious to get things started in 2001

Schrader's Thoughts On The 2001 Season...

"We are anxious to get started this year. Our Daytona test went really good and we learned a lot about the two cars and know where to improve. An added bonus this year will be the No. 10 car and Johnny Benson to help us along and to share information. We finished ninth at Daytona last year and Johnny had a great run, so we've got a lot to be optimistic about."

Schrader's Daytona Highlights...

Embarking on his 17th full season of Winston Cup competition, "M&M's"® Racing Team driver Ken Schrader is always happy to start the season at Daytona International Speedway. He has celebrated in victory lane four times in Daytona Beach, but looks for 2001 to be his first points win at the 2.5-mile track. The Missouri native won what is now the Bud Shootout in both 1989 and 1990. Schrader also won his Gatorade Twin 125-mile qualifying race in 1987 and 1989.

Schrader makes his 10th career start in the Bud Shootout to kick off the season. Although Schrader has 23 career pole positions to his credit, he earned his way into the 2001 Bud Shootout by virtue of being a past winner of the all-star event (1989-90).
