McDonald's 'Big Return Sweepstakes' Awards 10 New Cars in Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Jan. 31 Super Bowl XXXV players not
only shattered game records with their kickoff returns for touchdowns on
Sunday, they also scored 10 brand new cars and sport utility vehicles for
Michigan McDonald's(R) customers who participated in the McDonald's Big Return
Sweepstakes.
McDonald's Big Return Sweepstakes awarded 10 grand prizes as a result of
the two kick-offs returned for the touchdowns that occurred in the third
quarter of Sunday's game. Two winners in each of the five Michigan markets
each will receive a new vehicle.
"The extraordinary events that took place during Super Bowl XXXV have
resulted in a big return for 10 McDonald's customers in Michigan," said Steve
Norby, Regional Manager, McDonald's Corp. Grand Rapids Region. "Awarding
these vehicles is a thrilling experience for everyone involved in McDonald's
Big Return Sweepstakes."
McDonald's, in association with Michigan CBS affiliates, urged viewers to
visit their local McDonald's restaurant and pick up, fill-out and mail in a
Big Return Sweepstakes entry form beginning January 5, 2001.
Prizes ranging from a Big 'N Tasty(R) sandwich to a new vehicle were
awarded based on the different kinds of plays performed during Super Bowl
XXXV. Each play in the game had the potential to result in a winning entry.
Contest winners were determined by a random drawing following the Super Bowl
XXXV game. McDonald's of Michigan gave away more than a quarter million
dollars in prizes, including the 10 vehicles, during the sweepstakes. The
contest was developed and coordinated by Moroch Partners and Yancey Marketing.
"This Superbowl-sized promotion demonstrates to our customers that
McDonald's not only offers great food and great service, but on special
occasions, we offer great prizes, as well," said Edie Waddell, regional
manager, McDonald's Corp. Detroit Region.
McDonald's is the world's largest food service retailer with 28,000
restaurants, serving more than 43 million people each day in 120 countries.
Approximately 85 percent of McDonald's restaurants are owned and operated by
independent franchisees.
