UK Exclusive: V8 MG - The Car to Rival BMW's M5 Sports Saloon? just-auto.com Reports

    LONDON, Jan. 31 http://www.just-auto.com -- the first
large, big-engined MG four-seater in decades is on its way and is set to give
other models on the market a run for their money.
    The report at http://just-auto.com/news_detail.asp?art=23124 says that the
V8 MG, expected to enter the market in 2002, will be unique as it boasts rear
wheel drive.  Although some details were released at yesterday's press
preview, MG Rover staff would not comment on the V8's specifications.
    This has led to speculation about the engine's source -- the design could
come from Britain's Cosworth Engineering or be bought-in from Ford or GM in
the USA.  Despite the working relationship that MG Rover still has with its
former parent company, as the V8 Rover sedan will be in competition with BMW's
M5 sports saloon, BMW is unlikely to be the engine supplier.
