WOODSIDE READY TO START THE SEASON OFF RIGHT AT PIR
January 30, 2001 (North Hollywood, Calif.) - Sean Woodside, driver of Team Walker Motorsports' #45 Ringers, Ron's Rear End, NAPA Chevrolet in the NASCAR Winston West Series, wants to start the season off right for his new team.
His first stop, this Sunday's seasoning-opening NAPA Auto Parts NASCAR Winter Heat Presented by Bosch at Phoenix International Raceway, represents both an opportunity for a strong start to the season, and a chance to improve his personal best at PIR.
Woodside's best finish to date at PIR was a fourth place in the April 1998 Winston West event. In 1999, he was able to come from a last-row starting place within the short 100-lap event to finish in seventh place.
"We'll be looking for consistently strong finishes throughout the season," Woodside commented. "It would be great to win, of course, to launch our first full season, but consistency, starting and staying up front, are important to us right now."
"This is the first year without a tire war, for me, at least," Woodside said concerning the move to all Hoosier tires for the Winston West Series. "Eliminating that variable will definitely even out the field."
The team also welcomes associate sponsor NAPA Auto Parts to Team Walker Motorsports. Woodside won the 1999 NASCAR Winston West championship under the NAPA banner, and is pleased to work once more with his old friends. Both the Winston West and Super Late Model cars will carry the NAPA logo.
Woodside and team owner Donna Walker agree that making a concerted effort to develop a strong sponsorship program for both the Winston West and Weekly Racing Series teams is essential to provide an avenue for growth into NASCAR's national divisions.
The NAPA Auto Parts NASCAR Winter Heat Presented by Bosch will be televised on Fox Sports Net tape delayed, date and time to be provided at a later date.
