SOME LATE PROMOTIONS NEWS FROM ASA

OZZIE ALTMAN NEWEST MEMBER OF AMERICAN SPEED ASSOCIATION STAFF VETERAN OF DIRT LATE MODEL RANKS TO SERVE AS PROMOTIONS DIRECTOR

PENDLETON, Ind. (January 29, 2001) - Ozzie Altman, a mainstay in the dirt late model industry, has been hired by the American Speed Association to serve as its Promotions Director. With the ever-expanding boundaries of ASA, Altman will work to further promote the series through special event promotions in markets that the series visits during the 2001 season.

"ASA is such a professional organization, entering their 34th year in the industry, that I am really proud to become associated with them," said Altman. "It's going to be a lot of fun and an extremely rewarding career opportunity. I look forward to helping the series, which has already grown tremendously in the past few years, grow into even an even more exciting entity. There is no doubt that ASA is at the top in the world of short track racing."

Altman served many duties in the past as part of Victory Lane Communications, utilizing his marketing, publicity and announcing skills. He became a nationally recognized figure in the motorsports industry when he served as the Public Relations Director for the United Dirt Track Racing Association (UDTRA) Hav-A-Tampa Series from 1995 to 1998.

"I think having Ozzie Altman as part of the ASA staff will be a positive gain for everyone involved, including the series, its sponsors, competitors and fans," said ASA Vice President of Sales and Marketing Mark Gundrum. "He comes here with an impressive background and a real respected disposition in the motorsports community that will benefit us all."

Altman's duties with ASA will require him to travel into event markets in advance, working with local entities to promote the show. He will cultivate entities already involved with the tracks to get more involved in upcoming ASA events through promotions. He will also assist the local media in preparing for ASA events.

"I know that I will be plenty busy with the travel, day-to-day duties, the media work and work with the sponsors and television crew," Altman said. "I envision some long days, but even with this affiliation with ASA, I don't plan on turning totally away from all the people that have helped me throughout the years."

As with many growing up in a particular field, inspired by his father, Altman's love for racing eventually caused him to want to become more involved in the sport. He ultimately came to work for numerous drivers and teams without favorites.

"He (his father) instilled in me what is possibly the best tool that I have held onto, that is, to root for everyone," said Altman. "That is a motto that I have tried to live by in my career in racing."

The 43-year-old Altman lives in Atlanta, Ga. with his wife of 11 years Patty, and two children, eight-year-old daughter Amara and four-year-old son Zeke.
