DocuCorp Develops PDF 417 Software; Driven by State of New York's Crack Down on Uninsured Vehicles

DALLAS--Jan. 30, 2001--DocuCorp(R) International , a leading provider of enterprise information solutions, announced today the introduction of an advanced software solution that will allow insurance companies doing business in New York to meet the requirements of a newly created automobile insurance law.
To prevent fraud in complying with the state's mandatory insurance law, the State of New York has mandated that all insured drivers carry a bar-coded ID card to provide proof of insurance. The 2D cryptographic IDs are designed to attack the state's historical problem with fraudulent ID cards.
"Given the size of the automobile insurance market in New York, and the processing challenges the new law created, we knew that DocuCorp had to find a solution that would provide an easy transition for our insurance clients," said Bruce Dale, DocuCorp senior vice president of products. "We have been working with one of the nation's leading automobile insurers to develop a solution that would enable insurance companies to meet New York's strict certification requirements."
The State of New York provides an encryption key and PIN number to generate individual bar codes that can be tracked by the state's Insurance Information and Enforcement System (IIES).
"Our solution," added Dale, "provides easy integration with our publishing solutions. In addition, since many of our clients have custom interfaces to our software, we have established a dedicated team of consultants committed to helping companies meet New York's compliance deadline of July 1, 2001. After that date, non-bar coded ID cards will not be accepted as proof of insurance."
For additional information on this requirement, visit the New York State Insurance Department's Web site at www.ins.state.ny.us. For detailed information regarding DocuCorp's solution, please contact us at 800/735-6620 or visit our Web site at www.docucorp.com.
