Cool Deal Over New Refrigerant

PHOENIX--Environmental Technologies Inc. will distribute Solpower Corp.’s newly approved automotive SP34E refrigerant on a national basis.

Environmental Materials Corp., a subsidiary of Environmental Technologies, is one of the largest distributors of refrigerants to the automotive aftermarket in the United States.

SP34E has been successfully tested and marketed in Australia, Japan and Canada. It was recently listed under the EPA/SNAP program as an acceptable alternative refrigerant for use in this country. (In Canada SP34E is distributed through accounts such as the Canadian Tire Corp., Canada’s largest automotive service retailer.) Here in the states, SP34E is being billed “as the only 100 percent non-HCFC, long-term alternative refrigerant for CFC R-12 systems.”

SP34E is a non-ozone depleting, near drop-in alternative refrigerant that is compatible with both mineral oil and PAG oil, making it suitable for both stationary and mobile CFC R-12 applications, according to the two firms.
