Hyprotech Releases AXSYS 1.1 Front End Engineering and Design Software

    HOUSTON--Jan. 29, 2001--

Latest Release Significantly Reduces Implementation Time and Adds
Additional Capabilities for Integrated Engineering in the Process
    Industries

Hyprotech today announced the release of AXSYS 1.1, its integrated process engineering solution for deployment throughout the lifecycle of complex process plants. The product release was made during the DaratechPLANT2001 Conference in Houston, Texas, this week.
AXSYS optimizes enterprise workflow and enables collaborative engineering and early validation of plant designs by integrating process simulation and project evaluation data in a common database repository. The new release has added features which provide better integration with detailed design systems, support for additional process simulation packages, and a comprehensive set of tools for configuration and customization.
The SmartPlant P&ID export facilities allow process engineers to transfer their process P&IDs created within AXSYS to Intergraph's SmartPlant(TM) for further editing and finalization as part of the detailed engineering scope of work. The transfer process generates a fully intelligent drawing with associated data being transferred using XML. The SmartPlant user can also access all process data contained in the AXSYS database via an ActiveX control.
"We see this as a major step forward in providing better integration between the Owner/Operator and the Engineering Design Contractor," said Dr. Mark Broussard, Hyprotech's Senior Vice President of Technology. "The ability to leverage the process design work done as part of Front End Loading into the detailed design environment will help reduce project schedules and design rework."
Other enhancements in this new release are the inclusion of Microsoft VBA as the programming environment, providing the user with the ability to integrate their own specialist knowledge within AXSYS. Configuration tools have been added so that organizations implementing AXSYS can quickly and easily customize the environment to leverage best practices and standard designs.
Continuing the commitment to open systems, data can be exported using structured XML and imported from SimSci's (LSE:ISYS) Pro/II(TM) process simulator. This is in addition to the existing simulator interfaces from Hyprotech's HYSYS(TM) and AspenTech's AspenPlus(TM).
