Arvin Contracts With Triflex

TROY, Mich.--ArvinMeritor Inc. has awarded minority supplier Triflex Industries a $3.5 million contract to produce stabar suspension assemblies.

Triflex will make the stabar suspensions at its new assembly plant in Taylor, Mich. The facility will employ some 30 people at full production and will produce 260,000 assemblies annually.

Triflex President Mark Wright credited the contract to ArvinMeritor’s “commitment to diversity” as well as the Project One mentoring program sponsored by the Michigan Minority Business Development Council (MMBDC). The program was started a year ago to bring together majority firms and minority business enterprises to develop business partnerships.

“We are grateful to MMBDC for creating a forum that encourages major corporations like ArvinMeritor to work with minority businesses,” Wright said.

“ArvinMeritor is committed to increasing its support for doing business with strong minority companies,” said Jake Jones, ArvinMeritor’s senior director of purchasing. “We have a proven track record with Triflex and we are delighted to expand our relationship with them.”
