DaimlerChrysler Announces New Safety Chief

          - Plant Manager Appointed to Kenosha (Wisc.) Engine Plant

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 26 DaimlerChrysler Corporation
announced the appointment of Bernard I. Robertson to the post of Senior Vice
President - Engineering Technologies and Regulatory Affairs.  This appointment
is effective immediately.  In addition, Robertson will continue in his role as
General Manager - Truck Operations.  Robertson will continue to report to
Richard O. Schaum, Executive Vice President - Product Development and Quality
& General Manager - Passenger Car Operations in all capacities.
    "To have someone of Bernard's caliber take responsibility for our
Regulatory Affairs efforts is a tremendous asset to the company," said Schaum.
"Bernard is highly regarded by important safety and regulatory audiences in
Washington, DC and certainly, by internal audiences as well."
    Schaum also noted that Robertson has had a distinguished career at
DaimlerChrysler of over 30 years and has served as an expert and spokesman on
innovative automotive technology, alternative fuels, fuel economy and hybrid
engineering.  Robertson is a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
He began his career at DaimlerChrysler as a Chrysler Institute of Engineering
student in 1965.
    Robertson's new responsibilities include vehicle safety, stationary
environmental and energy regulatory planning, vehicle certification programs
and product analysis.
    The company also announced Robert J. Hollingsworth is appointed Plant
Manager - Kenosha (Wisc.) Engine Plant.  Hollingsworth will report to John
Felice, Vice President and General Manager - Engine/Foundry.  Hollingsworth
joined DaimlerChrysler in 1977, and most recently served as Senior Manager -
Manufacturing - Kenosha Engine Plant.
