Exclusive - Valeo Components Plant to Close. Another Blow for the British Automotive Industry? just-auto.com Asks.

    LONDON, Jan. 25 http://www.just-auto.com -- 330 workers at
the Valeo auto climate control components plant at Gorseinon, near Swansea in
Wales stand to lose their jobs when the factory closes at the end of July.

plant that makes heater and air conditioner units has recently lost orders
from General Motors, BMW, Land Rover and MG Rover -- losses which have led to
the decision to close the plant.
    Managing director, Harvey Preston says, "It is clear that with significant
reductions in our planned workloads, it will not be economically viable for us
to continue production in the future."
    Tim Williams, chief executive of the Welsh Automotive Forum says, "It's a
shame when companies have to do this because no one likes to see massive job
losses coming through."
