Recreation USA Reports Tampa Super Show a
Success
Solid Sales at the Industry's Largest Consumer Show
Kicks Off Florida Selling Season
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., Jan. 25 Fueled by improved margins
on solid sales during the just-completed Tampa RV Super Show, Holiday RV
Superstores, Inc. , which operates under the tradename
Recreation USA, reported its best-ever performance at the show.
The Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. recreational vehicle and marine retailer said the
five-day show gave Recreation USA a strong start to the Florida selling
season, which traditionally kicks off during the Super Show. Recreation USA,
the industry's only national dealership group, sponsored six booths during the
show, giving it the largest single presence of any retailer.
Recreation USA represented six manufacturers during the show, selling
motorized and towable vehicles from Air Stream, Four Winds, both subsidiaries
of Thor Industries, Gulf Stream, SMC Corp., King of the Road and Glendale.
The Company reported record gross margins on the vehicles sold during the
show, which could make January 2001 one of its most profitable recent months,
subject to final delivery of the vehicles.
"The Tampa Super Show was a success for Recreation USA, giving us an
excellent start to our critical Florida selling season," said Ronald G.
Huneycutt, president and chief executive officer. "Traffic was good during
the show, and consumers were eager to see the new vehicles available for 2001.
We were able to achieve significant improvements to our margins, especially
finance and insurance, compared with the 2000 show, and we look forward to
building on this momentum."
During the show, Recreation USA unveiled its Goodwill Sunday Service
program, the first of its kind in the industry. The pilot service program
dispatches technicians to key Florida campgrounds each Sunday in order to
diagnose and repair minor RV problems -- most of the time free of charge.
"The response to Goodwill Sunday Service has been phenomenal," Huneycutt
said. "Consumers love the convenience. Goodwill Sunday Service has been an
excellent way to introduce them to Recreation USA while showcasing our
commitment to providing branded, coast-to-coast service."
