MascoTech, Simpson and Global Metal Technologies To Operate As Metaldyne

             Metaldyne to be the Leader in Metal-formed Solutions

    DETROIT, Jan. 23 MascoTech Inc. announced that it is
changing its name to Metaldyne Corporation and will unite with Simpson
Industries, Inc. and Global Metal Technologies, Inc. to operate under the
Metaldyne name.  Metaldyne will be the leading global designer and supplier of
high-quality, low cost metal-formed components, assemblies and modules for the
transportation industry.  The new organization, which will be a combination of
the skills and technology of each company, will utilize the Metaldyne name in
all of its operations.

    The combination creates a full-service, vertically integrated metals
company resulting in the industry's broadest range of metal forming, machining
and assembly capabilities, with a commitment to customers, quality, and
service.  A powerful combination of leading, high-performing metals companies
and their affiliates, Metaldyne will have the financial strength and resources
to compete and succeed in automotive markets around the world.

    Currently, Metaldyne employs more than 9,500 employees at more than 50
facilities in 11 different countries.  Metaldyne, with annual revenues in
excess of $2 billion, will serve such customers as General Motors,
DaimlerChrysler, Ford and New Venture Gear.

interim president and chief executive officer of Metaldyne and senior managing
director of Heartland Industrial Partners.  "We will continue to provide the
exceptional service our customers have become accustomed to through one,
comprehensive metal industry platform.  Together we can offer larger systems
and modules that provide value to our customers and differentiate us from the
competition."

    Metaldyne's leadership team is as follows:  Timothy Leuliette - interim
president and chief executive officer; Lee Runk - group president, forming
technologies; Roy Parrot - group president, business operations; George Thomas
- group president, machining and assembly; Joe Ponteri - group president,
light metal castings; Tim Wadhams - executive vice president, administration
and chief financial officer; Vinod Khilnani - vice president, finance and
corporate controller; Jim Strahley - vice president, human resources; and Dick
Lefebvre - vice president and chief information officer.
