Avis Leads Rental Car Companies in National Customer Loyalty Survey

                    Company Receives Highest Loyalty Score
Among All of Survey's 129 Brands in 24 Industries

GARDEN CITY, N.Y., Jan. 23 Avis Rent A Car has the highest
customer loyalty among rental car companies by a wide margin, according to the
third annual Brand Keys 2000 Customer Loyalty Awards announced today. This is
the second year in a row that Avis has led the rental car field.

The Company also received the highest number of points for customer
loyalty among all 129 companies surveyed by Brand Keys in 24 industry
categories. In the rental car category, Avis outranked its competitors by a
significant margin, achieving 119 points out of an ideal 120. Enterprise
placed second with a score of 113 points followed by Hertz in third place with
111. The average score for all rental car companies other than Avis was 107.

"This award once again demonstrates the difference between Avis and our
competitors," said F. Robert Salerno, Avis Group President and Chief
Operations Officer, Rental Car Group. "Avis has dedicated tremendous amounts
of resources over the last several years to develop a process for managing the
customer experience and provide our employees with the tools for supporting
our strategies of winning customer loyalty and service excellence. Customers
are telling us that there is something special about Avis and the value we
deliver that the others can't match."

Robert Passikoff, President of Brand Keys, said
in announcing the award winners: "A new era in marketing and customer
relations is at hand in which leveraging customer loyalty is the primary means
by which the most competitive companies will break away from the pack. After
the reengineering, right-sizing, and best-practicing of recent years, many
companies find that they are doing a great job ... and are in danger of seeing
their products and services become excellent -- undifferentiated --
commodities. Avis has done the best job at anticipating and exceeding
customer expectations."

The Brand Keys Customer Loyalty Awards are issued each year after
intensive research that focuses on customer relationships with more than
100 brands in a wide variety of industries, from telephone companies, to
sneaker manufacturers, to Internet companies.

The top 10 brands were, in order of their ranking: Avis, Budweiser,
Sprint, Motorola and Nokia (tied), Yahoo, New Balance, Discover Card, Airborne
Express and Amazon.com.

This year's survey said that rental car customers determine loyalty based
on the following measures: pricing and options, convenience, safety of
vehicles, and customer service and services in case of breakdown. Customer
expectations are highest in the area of customer service, and Avis received
its highest score in this category.
