Gentex Mirrors On Sebring Convertible
ZEELAND, Mich.--Gentex Corp. has begun shipping interior automatic-dimming mirrors for the 2001 Chrysler Sebring Convertible.
Gentex’s Night Vision Safety Mirrors are an active crash- avoidance safety feature. They automatically darken to reduce glare from the headlamps of vehicles approaching from the rear. The brighter the glare, the darker the mirrors become.
Gentex’s interior automatic-dimming rearview mirror with light-emitting diode (LED) map lamps is standard on the Sebring LXi and Limited Convertible models.
“Convertibles represent a logical application for our LED map lamp technology because they don’t have overhead lighting,” said Ken La Grand, Gentex executive vice president. “The Sebring Convertible is also a great- selling vehicle, so we’re obviously pleased to have it add our mirror.”
Gentex’s LED map lamps contain a proprietary technology that uses a combination of blue/green and amber LEDs to produce white light suitable for illumination. LEDs are semiconductor diodes that emit light when voltage is applied. LEDs are durable, even in harsh conditions, lasting up to 15 years, or five times longer than standard incandescent lights. They also draw less current, have a lower operating temperature, and make it easier to control lighting color and patterns.
