Subaru Announces Pricing on 2002 Model Year WRX Sedan and WRX Sport Wagon

DETROIT, Jan. 9 Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA), a pioneer
of crossover All-Wheel Drive vehicles designed for the active lifestyle,
announced today the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of the 2002
model year WRX Sedan and WRX Sport Wagon models. Introduced today at the
North American International Auto Show at Cobo Center, the WRX models
highlight the new generation of Impreza models that will reach Subaru
dealerships in early Spring 2001.

Powered by a 2.0 liter 227-horsepower turbocharged and intercooled engine,
the All-Wheel Drive Impreza WRX models offer more torque and a significantly
better power-to-weight ratio than respected competitive All-Wheel Drive models
including the Audi A4 1.8T or BMW 325xi.

All WRX sedan and WRX Sport Wagon models feature full-time All-Wheel
Drive. The standard manual transmission uses a viscous coupling locking
center differential All-Wheel Drive system. The optional four-speed
electronic automatic transmission (4EAT) is teamed with Variable Torque
Distribution (VTD) All-Wheel Drive. VTD distributes more power to the rear
wheels, providing the vehicle with more of a performance driving feel. Both
WRX models feature a viscous limited-slip rear differential, which sends power
to the rear wheel with the best traction.

The 2002 Impreza WRX Sedan and WRX Sport Wagon models come equipped with a
full roster of standard comfort and convenience features including: air
conditioning, a 6-speaker AM/FM 80-Watt stereo with logic control cassette
player and in-dash 6-disc CD changer, cruise control, power door locks and
power windows with driver's auto down. The WRX models raise the sporty
quotient with interior appointments that include bolstered sport design front
seats, a Momo brand four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and aluminum
pedal covers on manual transmission models. Rounding out the list of standard
features is a keyless entry system, front foglights, a dual outlet sport
tailpipe and an aluminum alloy hood. Additionally, all 2002 WRX models
include three-point seat belts for all five seating positions, as well as dual
front airbags and front seat side-impact airbags.

Like every Subaru sold in North America since 1997, all 2002 Impreza
models feature the Subaru All-Wheel Driving system for optimal grip on all
kinds of surfaces, dry or wet. Stopping power is enhanced courtesy of
standard four-wheel disc brakes with twin-piston front calipers, 11.4-inch
brake rotors and a standard anti-lock brake system (ABS). Both Impreza WRX
models come equipped with standard 16 x 6.5-inch alloy wheels with 205/55 R16
Bridgestone Potenza RE92 all-season tires. WRX models can be fitted with
accessory 17 x 7-inch BBS alloy wheels with recommended 215/45 R17 tires.
