Chrome Now Delivers New Vehicle Data to TACH and to General Motors

PORTLAND, Ore.--Jan. 9, 2001--Chrome Data Corporation, the automotive industry's most accurate independent business-to-business provider of data and configuration technology and software, today announced that it has provided General Motors with a new vehicle configurator capability allowing dealers to communicate with GM and streamline the ordering process.
More than 8,400 GM dealers throughout the U.S. and Canada now employ a standardized system that provides dealers the most accurate and up-to-date pricing and specification data and software available today.
Distributed to GM dealers under the name GM AutoBook(TM) in December 2000, the new vehicle configurator meets GM's high standards of functionality, including the ability to configure only orderable vehicles. GM AutoBook will enable its network of dealers to access vehicle configuration, pricing, customer presentations and order management for cars, light trucks and medium duty trucks. With GM AutoBook, GM dealers will have access to complete new vehicle information for 41 makes and about 1,700 vehicle styles.
"Chrome's 15 years of experience in configuration technology made it easy for us to deliver a comprehensive and intuitive product in a matter of weeks," said Chrome CEO Bob Navarre. "GM AutoBook makes it easy for dealers to communicate accurately and consistently with GM."

    Chrome: Most Accurate Data Provider

In a recent independent study CNW Marketing/Research compared the pricing data of the major online automotive data sources by configuring 86 different vehicles at eight different Web sites (see Chrome Data Named Most Accurate Data Provider for Automotive e-Commerce, June 27, 2000). Chrome ranked first in data accuracy with an average MSRP price accuracy of 99.64% and an average invoice price accuracy of 99.95%.

    About Chrome Data

Chrome Data Corporation pioneered the technology behind electronic vehicle configuration and for the past 15 years has collected, analyzed and enhanced "raw" automotive data from all manufacturers. Chrome's flagship product, the desktop research, pricing and ordering tool PC Carbook(R), is widely accepted as the standard in automotive data. Chrome's Internet-based product, Chrome Carbook(TM), allows dealers, Internet portals, financial institutions and insurance and warranty companies to provide visitors to their Web sites with a tool to configure cars online -- including specifications on all new vehicle makes and models, standard and optional equipment, vehicle pictures and accurate pricing. This information precisely matches manufacturers' invoices and MSRP pricing, enabling users to configure and order any vehicle sold in the U.S. with the confidence that the delivered product and price are exactly what was expected.
