G.P. Buys Pennzoil Plant
HOUSTON--General Petroleum Resources Inc. has purchased a Carson, Calif. packaging plant from Pennzoil-Quaker State Co. for an undisclosed sum.
G.P. is a large West Coast marine-commercial fuels and lubricants distributor headquartered in Long Beach, Calif. The Pennzoil-Quaker State Carson facility will allow General Petroleum to consolidate its offices, transportation group and lubricants storage facilities under one roof, said John Zar, G.P.s president and chief executive officer. Strategically situated near three main freeways, this operation will allow G.P. to improve its petroleum distribution economics and allow for future expansion.
The Carson plant, one of several assets that Pennzoil concluded were not strategic to its long-term goals, has operated as a blending and packaging facility since the formation of the Pennzoil-Quaker State Co. in late 1998. The plant had formulated and supplied lubricants to the West Coast market.
