Griot A Riot On Internet

PITTSBURGH--Griot’s Garage has launched a website, www.griotsgarage.com, that sells car care products online for the car care perfectionist.

“The holidays are here and so is our new Griot’s Garage online,” says Dell Plagens, system administrator for Griot’s Garage. “The timing could not be better. With every product the car enthusiasts could want, we expect sales from the site to skyrocket.”

The site was produced by Rapidigm Inc. of Bellevue, Wash.; it also has an outlet in Portland, Ore. “It was our goal to produce a shopping-friendly web site for Griot’s Garage,” says Manish Mehta, director of operations for the Portland Center. “I believe the Griot’s Garage's website demonstrates Rapidigm’s ability and passion to understand our client’s customers and build a site that speaks to them.”

Griot’s Garage can now update the site to make sure the products and pricing parallel the information provided in the printed handbooks. By tracking customers’ purchases, Griot’s Garage can sort and organize products on the site to increase visibility and promote sales.

Griot’s Garage began with Richard Griot, an assistant, and a warehouse helper. The first catalog was just 16 pages. Today, after 10 years in business, the Handbook (it’s no longer called a catalog) is 60 pages long and reaches millions of enthusiasts every year. Griot’s Garage sells everything from car covers to fine waxes; from upholstery cleaners to wheel brushes; and from automatic battery chargers to driving shoes.
