OSHA, EPA Compliance Guides Released

FINDLAY, Ohio--Environmental Development Corp. (EDC) has announced the availability of its 2001 editions of their Environmental and Safety Guides for Vehicle Maintenance and Refueling Operations.

The Guides, comprising nearly 1,000 pages of compliance, best management practices and solutions, “help those directly responsible for EPA and OSHA compliance to reduce cost and maximize compliance,” according to the company. Each guide also comes with a 30-minute video.

EDC also has a new website at www.envirosafeshop.com. In January it will publish a 150-page Vehicle Maintenance Managers Guide to Environmental Excellence in paperback and on CD-ROM.

A condensed version of its 590-page Guide, the new guide for vehicle maintenance managers provides an easy-to-read reference of essential information that most managers of auto, truck, bus and heavy-equipment maintenance need to know to comply with EPA rules. “It covers literally all topics from used oil, antifreeze recycling, and scrap tires to hazardous waste storage, pollution prevention, and training and record keeping requirements. It is designed for multi-location fleet operations, franchised operations, as well as one-location service shops,” said author David Augenstein.

“This product on CD-ROM will allow our customers to post it on their intranets, as well as utilize it as a desktop reference,” said Augenstein, a professional engineer with 13 years of specialization in environmental regulatory compliance in automotive service and refueling operations. The product can also be customized for a specific company. For example, versions have already been customized for all 2,500 Midas International service centers in North America, 150 Toyota forklift dealerships, and are available to 10,000 NAPA auto service centers through their 2001 NAPA Dealer Program.

“With the Vehicle Maintenance Managers Guide to Environmental Excellence, EDC programs will cover the entire organization, from environmental coordinators to maintenance managers and technicians,” he said.

EDC has developed national programs for such groups as GM, Volvo, Toyota, the U.S. Air National Guard and the U.S. Air Combat Command.
